BT Redcare has Surprised the Security Industry by Announcing its Closure, but Don’t Worry – ASM is Here to Help

An integral part of the security industry, BT Redcare, has announced its closure, and that all operations will cease on 1st August 2025.

This news will be felt by both business and home users as well as a huge amount of security industry professionals who have relied on the services for over 3 decades. Users who rely on BT Redcare for monitored intruder alarms, fire alarms and security systems will be affected, and will need to start considering their options. ASM expert advisors are on hand to help make this transition easier and guide you through any necessary changes to your set-up.

BT will be accepting orders until 29th February 2024 for customers who need an interim solution whilst switching over their estates before the closure. ASM recommends starting the migration process as soon as possible, especially for customers with large estates.

Established over 30 years ago, BT Redcare has been an integral part of the security industry for decades, and was the largest supplier alarm signalling services for security and fire in the UK. Over this time BT Redcare was significant player in both the fire and security industry, and so this news has left many concerned about the safety of their buildings, reliability of their systems, and what the future looks like.

This closure has been driven by a new strategy, focused on reducing product variants and the desire to invest in those “core products and services” that will deliver for the customer base, as explained by Nicholas Whiting, head of BT Redcare, in a formal communication to interested parties. He continued, “We will, of course, continue to meet our commitments to provide services for orders already placed, but please take this as formal notice that your agreement(s) with us (including all orders placed for the provision of BT Redcare services) will terminate on 1 August 2025 or earlier if your services are contractually due to expire before then, or if you migrate your services away from BT Redcare before 1 August 2025.”

ASM are dedicated to proving support and advice to anyone who needs it in this transitional period, and have been working hard to ensure we are prepared for an increase in demand. We encourage installers to review their resources and processes as soon as possible in order to address the migration with plenty of time before the closure finalises. Our experts are on hand to advise and discuss your individual needs in order to make the transition as smooth and hassle free for our customers as possible.
